Murrays Cottage

Emma Lindsay's work considers both real and simulated experiences of life through the exploration of sensory memory, culture, and history. Everyday contemporary life is becoming more virtual than real, our experiences of nature increasingly reconstructed and removed from the actual environment. Her recent work has focused the experience of seeing an entire taxidermy bird specimen collection, particularly rare and endangered species, in the artificial context of the Queensland Museum. Lindsay's residency aims to directly explore the remote pastoral landscapes and cultural places from which our simulated museum experiences originate.
