Jo Davenport’s practice is predominantly concerned with the language of paint and painting. This residency will be devoted to gaining a better understanding of Hill End through a study of the early geological maps of the area. Davenport plans to use the subject of map-making as a way to start a series of large works on paper, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of Hill End’s landscape and it’s rich artistic heritage.
