Across Kris Peta Deray’s work that includes painting, drawing, installation and photo media, there is a strong interest in the experience of temporality and the shifting relations of form, materiality and meaning. Her residency will focus on choreographing the experience of the night sky, as a series of ‘scapes,’ interpreted through exploring the potential of materials and the emotional response they produce. Deray intends to engage with local Wiradjuri elders to learn more about how they view the night sky and explore new approaches and collaborations. She plans to produce a series of works on paper that will inform future installation work and an Artist Book.
