Haefligers Cottage

A visual artist working across a variety of media - painting, drawing, textiles, installation and photography. In 1998 Ruth completed a Masters of Arts in the Textile workshop of the Canberra School of Art and is an Accredited Professional Member of Craft ACT. In her work Ruth explores the responses of women to the Australian landscape in the creation and expression of their identity, and for the past six years the theme of her practise has been life in Australian goldfields. She has specifically investigated how the inhabitants constructed their homes in response to the surrounding landscape and what these places could reveal about their attitudes to the environment.
