Baird is a Sydney based painter whose current work explores the Australian landscape. She describes Hill End as being a muse for her recent work, which she will be developing during her residency. Baird’s paintings are a contemporary response to landscape depicting subtle changes in light, growth and movement within the natural world. The main aims of her residency will be to collect new material, paint and respond plein-air and to work directly onto etching plates from specific sites she has become drawn to. Stoic trees silhouetted against a night sky are her primary motifs.
