Since 2008 Barbay has been harnassing the decomposition of deceased animals by allowing the body and its fluids to create a ghostly impression on canvas. She calls these works ‘shrouds.’ Barbay intends to produce shrouds from animals found during her residency. In addition Vanessa plans to produce a body of paintings called Nature Morte – Hill End depicting detritus photographed at the site in either oil, ochre or water colour mediums.
